Chartreuse Review and GIVEAWAY!

I recently had the opportunity to attend a Chartreuse presentation that was held at my local cloth diapering boutique, Healthy Heinys. I have been to many parties over the years, from Pampered Chef to Thirty One to you-name-it. This one piqued my interest though because ALL of the products are green, thus the name. ("Be Distinctively Green" is their slogan). As I am on an adventure to be more green, I thought this company would be a good one to look into!

Looking into the company, I was very impressed. They offer a variety of products from make-up, body care, cleaning products, children's body care, jewelry and more. The packaging is attractive, the products are all natural and reasonably priced. With these facts in my head, I was really looking forward to see the products in person!

Sarah Walker was the "Eco-Consultant" representing Chartreuse at this particular party. I got there a little early and had a chance to discuss some of the products with her ahead of time. One thing that caught my eye was the Laundry Soap Nuts. I had heard about them and was very interested to see them in person. More about those later! The cleaning products smelled great too, as did the lotion and body wash. EVERYTHING smelled good!

Her presentation was very eye-opening. She lead us through the products by playing a game for Chartreuse products as prizes. This game had an educational component though, and that's what got my mind reeling. She would use letters, "T" for example, and then tell us about a chemical that starts with "T" that are prevalent in common household products. The more she continued, the more chemicals we learned about that Chartreuse products are free of. I couldn't believe the chemicals in the products I use currently! I went home and confirmed and YIKES! The chemicals I put on my kids! She mentioned a website where you can look up what toxins are in everyday products you use at home. Check it out! Cosmetics Database- it will blow your mind!

We could try the products, take home samples, ask questions. There were drawings too, which is always fun! I came home with several products to try, some of which I have already and LOVED! More on that later too!

I spoke with Sarah about what made her want to make her work for Chartreuse. Here is what she said:

"Several months ago, I was cleaning my bathroom with a conventional cleaner, and my daughter walked in behind me. I ushered her out of the bathroom not wanting her to breathe in the fumes. Why was I using a cleaner that I was afraid to let my child (or myself) be exposed to?? I started looking at other cleaners in the grocery store or Target, but I felt confused by what I saw. I wasn't sure what made one cleaner better than another. Fast forward a few weeks, and my mom called me after attending a Chartreuse party. She told me about the products, and I looked at the consultant's website. After reading about the products, I knew instantly that was what I had been looking for. I ordered a few products to try and loved them! I contacted the consultant, and she told me there was no one else in the area selling the products, so I decided that it would be the perfect opportunity for me to get in on the "ground floor" and really start spreading the word in this area.

I love so many things about the company - the mission, the high quality of the products, the ample training and the high commissions! They pay 25-30% where most direct sales companies pay 10-20%. Gotta love that! I have never considered myself a salesperson, but I guess when you are promoting a company or product that you really love, it doesn't feel like "selling." I have been getting a really positive response from friends and family who have tried the products or want to try them. I really think the company has so much potential to grow. Many people are looking for "green" products as an alternative to all of the chemicals we have been using."

I will be writing reviews on some of the Chartreuse products that I have been trying and Sarah will be guest blogging about natural product choices in the days to come. But for now- who wants a GIVEAWAY?!
